About Aventuras Infantiles de ESL

My final project is teaching important concepts of Christmas in English. This lesson can be delivered during the month of December. All of my lessons are adapted for students aged 0-3 and were used at both locations.
As a language assistant, my main role is to explain preschool vocabulary in English.

Christmas Songs

We wish you a Merry Christmas-Lyrics

For the Holidays I was in charge of singing adapted Christmas classics in English for ages 0-3. In both schools, I sang " We wish you a Merry Christmas".

I am a Little Christmas Tree

“I’m a little Christmas tree tall and straight
Here are my branches for you to decorate.
First, you put the star on the very top
Just be careful that my balls don’t drop.”

Singing and Dancing

Each song was adapted for Preschoolers. This means that all the songs included a kinesthetic component. With movement, it helps the students become engaged and learn English. In the picture, both the teacher and I are singing and dancing. Each teacher was given a copy of the songs to follow along.  They helped facilitate the class and translate movements in English.

Colors

At EEI Retemar we learned about colors in English. For this activity, we did Christmas face painting.

Learning about Santa and the Reindeer.

At EEI Delfines we sing adapted Christmas Songs and paint our noses red. In Spain they celebrate Christmas, but it's not as important as "The Day of the Kings".

Materials

At both locations, I used musical instruments during song time. It helped keep the students engaged and promoted listening skills.

Children's' Story

In Spain, Santa Claus is not taken seriously, but the Day of the Kings is very important. In class, I read stories during Storytime about Santa Claus. The teacher helped with translation and understanding for the children.

Anna Llenas

This book was designed to be used in art therapy and emotional education. Preschoolers are still learning how to regulate feelings. This book helps the students visualize each emotion in English and Spanish.

My Christmas project was a success at both schools. All of the kids and teachers loved the adapted songs and dance moves. This project helped me understand the challenges of ESL learners in learning English. Through my project, I was able to share American Culture and the beginning stages of English vocabulary.
